When a guitar-playing songwriter loses his lover, the woman and singer of his dreams, it destroys his ability to write and provokes a suicidal eating disorder. During the Red Sox year of 2004 he seeks to win her love back by chasing after her from Cambridge to Seattle using tactics from “Cyrano de Bergerac.” When his attempt fails it almost kills him, so he is forced to accept help from his music partner, the hands of a painter from Harvard, and from his own creative voice.
